Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. It begins in our own community or neighborhoods and spreads throughout the world. Many times we think to serve means we have to be involved in some major task but serving is quite simply using the gifts and talents the Lord has given us to promote and demonstrate God’s love to those we encounter. Church members may be involved in a variety of service from things as simple as folding silverware for church dinners, to sweeping leaves away from the front entrance.
Mission Outreach
Woodcrest Church is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We team with other Free Will Baptist churches throughout the year in sending workers to Mexico to assist our brothers and sisters in Christ with projects and evangelistic. Our church has opened its doors to the local Hispanic community with services offered each Friday evening and led by Brother Alfredo Bortello. Woodcrest Student Ministries travels to Africa every two years to assist with the Project Liberty International home for orphans in Mozambique. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means going to a foreign country or ministering here in our own community by serving meals at John 3:16 Mission once a month.
Music
God-honoring worship is something we strive for in our service. Church members are encouraged to share their gifts and talents whether it be in singing or playing an instrument. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.
Greeters
The greeters at our church fill an important role as they are the first person people encounter. They are involved not only in handing out the bulletin but also in helping visitors to the various areas of the church and answering any questions of our guests.
Media & Technology
Using media is an important tool in spreading the gospel. All of our sermons are uploaded to our website for those who are unable to attend because of illness or travels. We also maintain an active Facebook page for church communication and encouragement. Woodcrest also provides DVD’s of the sermon that may be picked up at the Welcome Center for those who do not have access to the internet.
Prayer Warriors
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Woodcrest Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers from our Prayer Warriors team pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests or needs. Each Wednesday evening is spent in a special time of prayer.
Nursery Workers
Nursery workers play a vital part in our ministry and is a simple act of service that allows those with young children to worship, fellowship and serve in other others of our church. If you have a love for children and enjoy just sitting and rocking little ones, we encourage to get involved by contacting Sister Debra Watson.
Woodcrest Weedwackers
We are obligated to be good stewards of what the Lord has given us, thus the creation of our “Weedwackers” ministry. Members who help with the mowing of our church grounds on a rotation basis allows us to save what would otherwise be a reoccurring expense. These men and women are divided into teams that involve a commitment normally only requiring 3 or 4 days a year.
