Mission Statement
“To know Jesus Christ and to make Him known”
Every organization has to answer the question of why it exists.
- What is its purpose?
- Are they fulfilling the same role they began?
- Have their goals changed or do they remain the same?
At Woodcrest we have the unique distinction of being the “Church of Jesus Christ” founded by Jesus himself in Matthew 16:16 when Peter declared, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” To this statement Jesus replied, “And on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Woodcrest does not belong to the Pastor, the membership or anyone other than the “Son of God.” He is supreme commander and He alone rules His church.
The members of Woodcrest are on a divine mission “to know Jesus Christ.” As the Apostle Paul said, “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death…” Many today only want to know Christ if it is easy and they don’t have to break a sweat or sacrifice anything. However, the only way to know His power is to follow Him with wholehearted devotion even when it’s difficult.
Following Jesus is our passion and desire at Woodcrest. When we follow Jesus, He will always lead us to those who need to know about Him. The goal of Woodcrest members is to show others how the grace of God can change your life. Because of God’s grace poured out through His Son, Jesus, we have good news to share with those who are ready to hear the gospel (the good news) that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
When you know Jesus and He knows you, you have a reason to live, a divine purpose to fulfill, and a hope that does not disappoint. Jesus died to give us life and one day will come again for those who love Him. Our mission is “to know Him and to make Him known” so that all may hear and we pray they will receive the life-changing, life-saving good news of the gospel.
The members of Woodcrest invite you to come along side us and share in this mission. There is no greater purpose in life than to live your life to please our Heavenly Father. Once you experience the grace of God (forgiveness) poured out in your life, you cannot help but share it with others.
What our world needs today is Jesus.
