The flood reveals God's anger over sin and the extent to which He will go to bring about holiness and rest on the earth while the ark shows that God's salvation is available to whosoever will listen. Only one other event shows "that holiness among people" as the object for which God will sacrifice everything else - even the crucifixion of His Son.
